Top 10 IT Companies in the World 2011 ...


Today, we will be looking at the Top 10 IT Companies in the World 2011. Over the past decade, several new companies have come into the IT world, but only a few standout as having the best reputation and best overall success value. Information Technology is an every growing topic, especially with all the vast number of technological devices that have come into the market. If you look at the world’s top companies in the PC market, you can see how well Microsoft among other top companies are performing. In terms of Microsoft, you can simply tell how well they have done in terms of overall production and innovation. Creating the world’s top operating system is not an easy task for any company.

10. Cisco

You don’t see Cisco come up that often in the IT world, but they managed to rake in thirty-six billion dollars in an annual calculation. Cisco is officially known as Cisco Systems, located in San Jose, California. Annual revenue for the most recent year totals about forty-one billion dollars. It is mainly a computer networking company that employes about seventy thousand workers. Cisco is involved in a number of products and services such as computer networks, data centers, optical networking, product manufacturing and more. Some of Cisco Systems products are used in the real business world, for both governments and financial institutions.

Toshiba does extremely well in terms of laptops and PC desktops. Toshiba laptops have been proven to last long, as they are built with quality products. Many people have problems with new laptops from other companies, but with Toshiba, you will have a better product. Toshiba experiences far less returns as opposed to any other company in the laptop market. Toshiba is located in Tokyo, Japan with offices across the world. Not only does Toshiba work with computer networking, but they have gotten into other IT markets as well. Recently, they launched Televisions, DVD players and wide variety of media oriented devices.

This company does not offer much of its services and products to the US or Canada, but they still are ranked very high in the electronics market. Headquartered in Taiwan, Foxconn brings in an annual revenue of about sixty billion dollars, which is far more than what Toshiba or Cisco does. Much of the market for Foxconn is from Asia and other parts of the world. Unlike the other companies, which only produce for the North American and UK market, Foxconn focuses on products and services for the Asia market. Much of their revenue comes from exports and wholesale distribution.

Fujitsu is an international computer networking and IT services company that is based out of Tokyo, Japan. The company focuses on providing high-end IT services and computer networking products to consumers. Their products are available world-wide and are shipped in the millions. The annual revenue for Fujitsu comes in at about fifty billion dollars. Fujitsu is the largest IT services company that is based in Japan, as it employes over one hundred and seventy-five thousand people worldwide. The company has offices and manufacturing facilities in over seventy countries across the globe. They not only are involved in direct IT services, but multimedia products as well.

The Dell company has been around for several years and it has earned a lot of recognition in America and Canada. Many of the financial institutions and government offices use Dell products. Dell is located in Texas, USA and works with some of the largest communications and technology based companies in the world. They develop and sell computer products and related equipment. Dell is solely focused on computers, monitors and computer peripherals. Their sole income comes from computer sales, IT services and custom manufacturing. The CEO of the company is Michael Dell, who is also regarded as the key person in the company.

5. Nokia

Nokia has always been a leader in technological innovations and mobile manufacturing. With the vast growth of nanotechnology, Nokia has been a large factor in the worlds IT industry. Nokia is headquartered in Finland, but has offices in many parts of the world. Nokia is focused in three main sectors when it comes to overall production and distribution. Nokia Corporation focuses on telecommunications, computer software and internet services. Nokia’s largest market comes from the mobile and telecommunications industry, as it supplies some of the best mobile devices on the market. With billions of dollars worth of assets, there is no reason why Nokia should not be regarded as one of the top ten IT companies in the world.

Microsoft has always been looked upon as the top computer related company in the world, but now there are firms that go over what Microsoft once had. The two key people in the Microsoft company are Bill Gates and Paul Allen. Paul Allen is someone we don’t hear about, as we are only familiar with Bill Gates. Bill Gates was once regarded as the worlds richest person in the world, but he too has been put down on the list of the worlds richest people. Microsoft was first known to create MS-DOS which was the worlds first operating system. Today, every home has a Microsoft product or service in their computer. Billions of people have either used or use the Windows platform, which makes Microsoft one of the top IT companies in the world for 2011.

3. IBM

IBM has fallen back in terms of computer production and manufacturing, but they still stand to dominate the IT services industry. The companies 2010 revenue showcased a total of about one hundred billion dollars. Nearly half a million people work for IBM, in many parts of the world. The company was first founded in New York and provided computer products to the consumer market. As more and more companies came into the IT industry, people were more inclined to the modern computer interface and looks. IBM computers were soon regarded as something of the past, and they slowed down on their production. Today, you will find it hard to walk into a FutureShop or BestBuy to purchase an IBM computer.

Samsung originally started in 1938, and is now the largest company in Korea. The company has a ton of divisions, which brings in a total of over two hundred billion dollars a year. The company is the second largest company in the world in terms of overall sales in just the IT industry. Samsung Heavy Industries was started to get into the ship building market. Samsung Heavy Industries is the second largest ship building company in the world. Samsung Groups operates business in the following fields; shipbuilding, electronics, chemical, financial, retail, entertainment, flash memory, aviation, storage solutions, mobile phones, smartphones and hard disk drives. The company even operates the largest theme park in Korea, known as the Samsung Everland.

1. HP (Hewlett-Packard)

Hewlett-Packard Company first started in the early 1900s, but was only considered a major IT company in the early 2000s. The company worked under various names over the period, but was officially known as Hewlett-Packard. The name comes from the two founders of the company who were Bill Hewlett and David Packard. The company is located in California, with offices in various other locations. The company is widely known for its computers, laptops and computer peripherals. However, the company does provide products and services in the other markets. HP focuses on computer hardware, computer software, IT services and IT consulting. Financial institutions, governments, schools and libraries work with HP.
