In Tamilnadu, there are tons of schools in many different fields. The technology field has grown a great deal in Tamilnadu over the past few years. Research in Motion, the creators behind the Blackberry have many of their IT divisions in India. There are various other communication giants based in India, as it is becoming a large powerhouse for the worldwide telecommunications business. Today, we have listed the Top 10 Engineering Colleges in Tamilnadu 2011, in terms of their overall academic performance and student standings. Tamilnadu is a large area and many different schools occupy the area, but only a few have made it to the top ten list. Find out if the school you are looking for has made it on the top 10 list.

10. Amrita Institute of Technology and Science

Officially known as Amrita University, the school has different departments and sectors for each field. The college is focused on many different fields such as medical, biochemistry, nanotechnology, engineering, arts, science and business. The school was recently listed in the top spot for being one of the top schools in the area in the medical field. The College is located in Coimbature, Tamil Nadu, which is also makes it convinient for many students to attend school. Getting around in the city is not hard at all, especially with all the modes of transportation available. The educational facilities at Amrita University are great and students have a good environment to learn in.

9. Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College

The Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College is also known to many Tamilnadu residents as SSN. It is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India and offers students a great engineering program. The famous cricket player known as Ravichandran Ashwin once graduated from the Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College. The campus is about two hundred and fity acres, which is about one million meters squared. The campus employs about two hundred and fifty academic staff. The overall number of students goes well over the two thousand mark, with post graduates, under graduates and doctoral students. The engineering department of the school was set up in 1996, and has grown tremendously in the fifteen year period ending in 2011.

The Coimbatore Institute of Technology is one of the fastest growing colleges in Tamilnadu. Sometimes referred to as CIT, the Coimbatore Institute of Technology focuses on teaching the younger generation about science, history of technology, innovation and engineering. India represents a very large population, and as you can see there are billions of people in India. India is ranked number two in the world for having the highest population. The number of college and university students in India are tremendous, and the amount in the engineering field is not little. There are thousands of students in the engineering field, which makes it a very demanding field to enter into.

The Crescent Engineering College is officially registered as the B. S. Abdur Rahman University. The Crescent Engineering College is a private university, which used to be roled under the Madras University. From 1984 to 2001, the Cresent Engineering College was deemed under the control of the Madras University. From 2001 to 2009, the college was then put under supervision of the Anna University. It was after 2009, that it was renamed to B. S. Abdur Rahman University and held completely private. It is one of the few private universities in this area. The school is one of the largest in India, and is ranked in the top fifty for being the best in the country. The school is located close to Tambaram, which is a small area in a part of Chennai.

6. St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology

The St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology which is also known to many as SJCET, is a engineering college in Chennai, Tamilnadu. It is a fully christian based school which was established in 2002. The school is a minority type college, as many people dont attend it as you would expect. There are a handful of christians who live in India, but the large proportion of them are of Hindu descent. Some people who live close by to the St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, prefer to go there as it is closer to them. The college offers people courses in both the engineering and management fields. There is no lack of education in any school, as they all follow country regulations on education.

The PSG College of Technology is directly affiliated with the Anna University. The college is partially run and funded by the goverment as well. There are both full time and part time studies available for students to choose from. Some families are less fortunate and they need to send their kids into the work force while they are still studying. Many students work part time and manage thier studies, so it makes it hard for them to engage in full time studies. The PSG College of Technology offers its students about fifty different full-time and part-time courses in the science, technology, engineering and management field. If you are considering a good engineering school, PSG is certainly a good option for you.

The SRM Engineering College is the direct engineering threshold of the SRM University in India. The name for the school comes from Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University. The school was first established in 1985 and it is still remains a private university in Tamilnadu. The SRM university has a total of four campuses in Tamilnadu and one compus in Modinagar. Modinagar is located just in New Delhi, which makes it a far off campus for students who attened the SRM University. The school is always ranked among the top highest in terms of the best engineering colleges in Tamilnadu, India. If you have the money and the academic standing to enter SRM University, you should really take up the offer.

3. Vellore Institute of Technology

Regarded as VIT University, the Vellore Institute of Technology is located in Vellore, Tamilnadu. VIT is regarded as one of the largest in the entire India, as it has nine different schools which provide dozens of courses for its students. There are thirty postgraduate programs, fifteen undergraduate programs and about thirteen different research centers. The research centers are a large part of Indias research and development wing. These centers not only help the school but the country as well, since it brings in new innovations and data to the country. With over fifteen thousand students who attend the Vellore Institute of Technology, there is no reason why this college should not be looked at as one of the best in the entire Tamilnadu, India.

2. Madras Institute of Technology

The Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) is a part of the Anna University and is one of the best in Tamilnadu. Established in 1949, it was the first self-financed engineering schools of the time. The school was fully funded by personal funds and no government aid at all. The school was later merged with the very famous Anna University. The school was and still is heavily focuses on aeronautical engineering, automobile engineering, electronics engineering, and instrumentation technology. All these engineering fields are the main focus in India, as you can see from their worldwide production forecasts. India has become a leader in some of the technological fields, and many of the researchers and developers are from Madras University.

Anna University, most notably the best in India has always ranked number one for dozens of fields. It is a wonderfully engaged and well performing technical college. There are dozens of the faculties and locations for Anna University all over India. If you look at some of the best colleges and universities in India, you will notice that they are or they were once affiliated with Anna University. Being the top university doesnt just do it justice, as the school has produced some of the brightest young masterminds in India. Technical students who have studied at Anna University are now working for some of the best engineering and technical organizations in the world. India is a large power house for telecommunication devices, and Anna Universities research department is heavily involved in it.
